A project born from the territory, the calm and the gastronomy of Costa da Morte.
We are Silvia Facal and Rafa Varela, hospitality professionals by vocation. After many years developing our careers away from our homeland, we have decided to return to our birthplace in Costa da Morte, Galicia, and transform our grandparents' house into an exclusive gastronomic boutique hotel, honoring their hospitality and continuing their legacy dedicated to the care of this little paradise.
Hotel Balarés was born from the desire to create an intimate retreat in one of the most authentic landscapes of the Costa da Morte. It is a project born from a deep respect for the land, traditional architecture, and the way of life connected to the sea and nature.
The hotel is built around an old Galician stone house and a centuries-old granary, elements that preserve the memory of the place and that have guided the development of a space designed to integrate into the environment without altering it.

Our philosophy is based on one essential idea: true luxury lies in well-understood simplicity, in tranquility, and in the authenticity of the surroundings. We believe in discreet, warm, and mindful hospitality, where every detail is designed to promote relaxation, connection with nature, and an appreciation of the local area.
Here, time doesn't speed up. It's inhabited.

Gastronomy is an essential part of our identity. We work with local produce from the Costa da Morte and Galicia, respecting seasonality and collaborating with small producers who share our understanding of the land. The cuisine is integrated into the hotel experience as its own language, connecting the landscape with the table and transforming each stay into a complete experience.

Balarés is a historic beach village located in the heart of the Costa da Morte (Coast of Death), in the municipality of Ponteceso. A place where landscape, silence, and nature coexist in perfect harmony, offering visitors a profound sense of calm and well-being. We always knew this was the place where our ultimate project should be born: a small, exclusive hotel, open to the sea and the surrounding landscape, designed to blend seamlessly into its environment and allow every stay to be experienced in direct connection with nature. Alongside it, an intimate and welcoming restaurant where we celebrate the local produce and the most authentic flavors of our land. This space offers not only a gastronomic experience but also an encounter with an exceptional natural setting. A place designed for the senses, where light, landscape, and cuisine are in constant dialogue. The atmosphere of the project evokes the kitchens of yesteryear, gathered around the fire and the lareira, that central space in Galician homes where family, conversation, and shared time came together.
